This is oil on stretched canvas. To start off, my wife says she won't be sad when I sell it and my two best friends Mike and Tony are fighting over who gets it. My goal was to use violent and disturbing colors to paint something extremely intimate and sexual. That's why my wife doesn't like it and why my friends do.
10.20.2005 - Since this was recently a DD I thought I'd update my description in reply to some of the questions and comments it recieved. First of all, this IS oil on canvas, but unfortunately the photo is a bit shoddy and has some light reflection streaks on the main black region. Second, I'm proud to say that this piece has a new home ironically the day after it was a DD. I traded my friend Sarah Stanley this for one of her pieces I've had my eye on for quite some time. Third, regarding the subject matter, this was an academic excersize of sorts. A lot of artists have done their version of "the kiss" and this one is mine. Fourth, I'm sorry, but I don't make prints of my paintings, just my photography and other printed mediums. I haven't worked out an acceptable reason for this yet, at least that's what my parents tell me, so I won't bother now. Lastly, before I painted this I had never heard of Helmut Newton. I showed the piece to one of my literature professors and, upon seeing it, sent me to investigate. So I owe this piece a lot, because, now, Helmut Newton is one of my favorite photographers and greatest inspirations. Thank you everyone who commented and critiqued it for me. I appreciate you giving me a moment of your day. Daily DeviationGiven 2005-10-18Raw. Intense. A simple description for a stunning painting: A Very Good Kiss by ~reggieisadork. And from now on, I don't care if my tea leaves spell die, Ron, die — I'm just chucking them in the bin where they belong.

That bottom part is very scary, though. I am afraid that the poor chap on the right is falling apart and losing all his skin or something. He might be turning into a galaxy...
